the eldest son of afonso and emilia velasquez, luis was somewhat of a gamble for them. research into the hereditary nature of werewolf genes was still thin on the ground and they were not willing research subjects. their choice to have a child - and the fact that emilia was afflicted with lycanthropy at all, the result of a deep bite to her thigh during the second war - was a deeply personal one and with no way of predicting the outcome, a deeply personal one that they would bear the weight of whatever the outcome.
as it turned out, the genes were hereditary, but luis didn't suffer at the full moon in the same way that his mother did. it makes him flighty, more aggressive, angry, reclusive, and on occasion destructive, but he considers that a small blessing to the alternative.
